1910

A frame home with white wood siding was built at approximately this location, probably in the 1910s.  Helmar A. (Ole) and LaRena Olson lived here, and the property included a few outbuildings.  Ole was from Denmark.  In 1950, he was working as a carpenter foreman at General Depot Ogden (which property was adjacent to his, separated only by the railroad tracks).  When Olsons sold the property, the home was donated to the Weber County Fire Department and was burned down for firefighting practice.

A later owner of the property was leveling pastureland to improve irrigation, and in the process turned up … material from the General Depot Ogden that had been dumped on the property years earlier.  The Federal Government was contacted.  The soil tested negative for contaminants. Although the government could not understand how the material got there, they removed the undesirable trash and replaced it with clean soil.  It may be assumed that since Olson worked for the Depot, he may have dumped some of the waste from there to fill in holes, then covered it with dirt in the process of attempting to level his pasture.
