This home that William W. and Gertrude Smith built started as a “Hope House,” a livable basement home where eventually a house would be built above with the basement as the foundation. William was a rock mason and also a rock collector. He personally collected all the rocks for this home from places all around Utah and in the Salmon River, Idaho area. He laid the rock veneer exterior for this lovely home himself. He also voluntarily built the beautiful rock fireplace in the City’s Bicentennial Cabin at 725 West Harrisville Road.
