In 1897, Joseph and Lucy Ada Taylor Spracher built the original portion of this home, consisting of a three-room frame dwelling.

The Richard R. D. Brown family lived in the home in July 1919.

In 1941, William and Iva Bingham Costley bought the house and remodeled it—adding red brick veneer. The Costleys lived in this home until 1970, when they both passed away within months of each other (Iva at age 84, William, age 85).

Wallace and Lenora Knight lived here in their declining years.  Three of their sons lived nearby and helped care for them.

In 1998, Lee Jay Clark purchased the home and began an addition including a second story.  Dan and Lenore Painter Taylor purchased the home from him and completed the addition in 2001.

When Arnold J. and Michelle N. Tait purchased the property, they added a large garage.  Michelle served as the Mayor of Harrisville.
