Lorin W. and Hazel Robinson Crowther acquired the property to build this home from Lorin’s father, William Crowther, who lived at 954 North Harrisville Road.  Lorin and Hazel originally built a “Hope House” (basement home with the hope of later building a house on top).  

They only lived in the basement home a short time when, unfortunately, ground water seeped in, and they could no longer live there. Lorin built a small structure to the side and back of the basement that served as the young family’s home, with the idea that it would later become the garage to the home they would eventually build on top.  This little garage home with an outhouse is where his family lived while Lorin was away for two years in the U.S. Navy during WWII. 

When Lorin returned from the war, he installed a toilet in the very small bathroom of the garage house. In the early 1950s, their hope became reality when Lorin and Hazel managed to complete the house on top of the basement. They added three more children and finished raising their six children here. 

After Hazel died in 1982, Lorin continued to live here. He married Eleanor O. Blonquist in December 1984; they were together seven and a half years before he passed away in May 1992. After Lorin’s death, Eleanor continued to live in the home and enjoyed being grandmother to Lorin’s family who lived nearby.

In 2020 Eleanor moved to Sandy, Utah to be closer to her daughter. The Crowther Family sold the home to Kerry J. and Shanci Maw.  The property was subdivided and an additional lot at 962 North Harrisville Road was created and sold to Michael and Jennie Knight where they built their home.  Michael’s parents, Byron and Janice Knight, lived across the street at 931 North Harrisville Road.

Vicki Sutton next purchased this home for her daughter to live here.

In 2024, the property was sold to Utah Housing Corporation. Workers did a lot of work to restore the house, and in the process, it was purchased by one of the workers.
